Every important campaign has many bridges to cross, some more difficult than others. The campaign to free Scapelle is no exception:

THE NEGATIVE
THE MEDIA
In addition to significant benefits, the media present some serious problems for Schapelle. At the time of the trial, they were excellent: they were reporting events and describing the actual situation as it unfolded. They were reporting news and facts, for all to see.
Unfortunately, there is a tendency in the aftermath of every very big story for the vacuum to be filled with less reputable journalism. For lies, innuendo, misinformation and worse to be printed, simply to fill column inches, grab cheap headlines related to the story, and simply boost circulation or viewing figures.
Sadly, Schapelle has not been immune from this disreputable activity, despite her desperate situation. We have seen a whole range of ridiculous unrelated and unfounded tangents produced: everything from behavior of relations (therefore she must be guilty) to stories of apparently dining in Bali (!). We have also seen the drip-drip effect of references to her as "convicted drug smuggler" and even "drug smuggler", giving credibility to the show trial which was previously shown by the very same organs to be a total mockery of justice
It has harmed her considerably, diluting support, giving confidence to those who incarcerate here, and distressing her family. There is no excuse for this at all: no excuse for proprietors allowing selfish, inhumane 'journalists' to publish and produce such bile. They are a stain on their own profession, and it is difficult for thinking people to understand how they can even look themselves in a mirror.
All we (and you) can do about it is to challenge it with the facts whenever and wherever it happens. The facts will always win the argument, but unfortunately, the impression created by them sometimes remains with some of the public. GOLD DIGGERS
And then there are the non-media gold diggers. These range from the monster offering tours "to see Schapelle in her cage" (he even disgustingly states that "you can feed Schapelle yourself – watch her face light up as you throw various pieces of food to her"), to the ridiculous Bali-diner 'photo' seller mentioned above. It beggars belief how low some people can be: both these examples really hurt Schapelle (one in terms of access, the other perception).
The bottom line is that the struggle to free Schapelle is not only with the Indonesian regime, but with those who try to use her predicament for self benefit and gain. Neither of these groups must prevail.

THE POSITIVE
LATERAL THINKING
The campaign to free Schapelle must embrace every channel we can find, but a key aspect is awareness: trying to bring her plight to the attention of more and more people, so that they too can hopefully be pro-active. If you have any ideas to increase global awareness, or perhaps know of a celebrity who is willing to help in some way, please share them, either on the Schapelle forums or with us.

FINALLY
There is no campaign which is not winnable - to believe otherwise is to condemn Schapelle to her cage for possibly the rest of her life. Whilst much of the world moves on and simply forgets her, the determined and the good will not. Please be one of this number, and stick with her. With your support, and others like you, we CAN get her out. Please don't walk away....
